This icon is pretty well done as it is much cleaner than many other icons out there. Everything is easy to make out, so surely this will make a nice gift. Glancing over at a reference of Seltsam here: [link] While you tossed out a lot of details like a gold star on the hat and goggles, it seems pretty reasonable to leave them out due to the smaller size of the canvas. It might seem like you forgot a few things to some, but to me, it seems like a perfectly rational decision considering how crazy small and potentially distracting some of the details are.

I have no clue if you're aware of this visual effect, but if we want a bit of perfectionism, it helps to be aware of a visual effect which probably no tutorial on dA will ever tell you about, and it's called banding. I think other pixel artists who actually frequents PixelJoint or Pixellation might have a bit more authority than I do, but I like to think of banding as an effect that makes your work look more pixellated than necessary.

If you look at the hat, you can very easily see the little pixels there. It looks very rough. If you look at the mouth, the flow of the line defining the upper lip is suddenly disrupted by shifting that line by one pixel; that can be smoothed out with a bit of AA.

When you draw with a grid, it's kinda easy to make the grid more visible, which is what banding basically is. It's kinda unavoidable to draw anything decent (or with practicality) without a bit of banding, but it could be avoided. Here, I drew some lines showing where I think the banding is not really necessary: [link]

^I may be a bit messy, bit I hope it shows what I'm seeing.

And an edit to help carry my point: [link] May or may not be the best possible edit, but I feel that my version to the left feels less pixellated but it shows the exact same character and thus a bit more realistic.

Overall, it's not a very bad icon of the OC at all, but just a bit of perfectionism might be worth considering. <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/t/t…" width="15" height="15" alt="" title="Thumbs Up"/>
